Dr Edmund Lam, CEO & Director of COMPASS, graduated in a Japanese university under a prestigious government scholarship scheme with a first-class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1985. Through part-time continuing education, he obtained his Master of Business Administration with distinction, a rare commendation from the University of Hull (UK), in 1999, specializing in Strategic Management. He furthered his education and in 2006 was conferred the degree of Doctor of Business Administration. The theme of his research thesis was leadership development in small and medium enterprises.
He has a career history spanning over twenty-two years, largely in senior management positions, during which he accumulated a wide range of experience in business and strategic planning, financial and general administration, human resource management, and multicultural management.
Concurrently he is the Regional Chairman of CISAC for the Asia-Pacific region. CISAC is the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers founded in 1926 and officially recognized by the copyright agencies of the United Nations. It is a global organisation, with its HQ office in Paris, representing more than 200 member societies from 103 different countries. The membership of these societies collectively comprised a total of nearly 2 million intellectual creators from all artistic disciplines: music, drama, literature, audio-visual works, graphic and visual arts. CISAC 's mission is to ensure the safeguarding, respect and protection of the legal interest of intellectual creators, and the principles of authors' rights and collective management.
He is also the Chairman of MIS@Asia, a state-of-the-art B2B Internet portal for the management of music copyrights in the Asia-Pacific region. MIS@Asia is an alliance of seven music societies in the Asia.
